This course is an introductory studio providing foundation in the conceptual, perceptual, and manual skills necessary for two-dimensional and three-dimensional design. This course is intended to fulfill all or part of the following National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAS) Student Performance Criteria of Professional Communication Skills, Design Thinking Skills, Architectural Design Skills and Ordering Skills.
Project 1: A Birdhouse


Above are sketches of the Eastern Bluebird for a project that will be explained below.

This is a mood board to inspire me to build a birdhouse for the bird that was mentioned above.



Using the mood board, I was able to concieve three ideas for my birdhouse.
Next I had to build concept models to see how the birdhouse would look with different features.
I was able to create a final concept design and dimensions for my birdhouse.
We then had to recreate the final dimensions and design in AutcoCAD. This gave it a more refined look.

After creating files for a laser cutting wood machine and using glue, this is a model of the birdhouse at 1/8th scale.
After two months, I was able to complete the first project of this class and present it to my instructors.
